Register & Transfer Domains

Domain names are used to identify one or more IP addresses. For example, the domain name scopehost.net represents about a dozen IP addresses. Domain names are used in URLs to identify particular Web pages. For example, in the URL https://www.scopehost.net/about, the domain name is scopehost.net.

Your domain registration could be complete within minutes, provided the domain registration fee is paid and your registration information is filled out correctly. However, .co.sz, .org.sz & .ac.sz domains take a maximum of 24 hours to register due to our registrar’s regulations, we always make sure the process takes less than 24 hours.

This depends on the ccTLD or gTLD that is being transferred. Legacy .co.za domains can take up to 24 hours to transfer, while .co.za domains which are on EPP can be transferred in a matter of minutes, provided the domain transfer is accepted by the domain owner.

With so many extensions available, it can be confusing as to which one to choose. The domain name extensions you should register depend greatly on the purpose of your web site and the type of business or organisation involved. For a non-profit group .org is the most popular domain extension for organizations.

A short one is considered best, but there’s some important points you’ll need to bear in mind if selecting a short address.

Nope – you have all the time you want to start using your new domain assuming the registration does not lapse/expire of course. Domain names are valid of one year (365 days) from registration and are dew for renewal every year on the same date it was registered on. 

When people first register a domain name, they often don’t have a site already built. Subsequently, the name may not point (be delegated) to any particular web host for a while. In some cases, typing that web address into a browser ultimately generates an error message along the lines of “server not found”, which isn’t really a problem. However, what some registrars do in this scenario by default is point it to a placeholder page that is controlled by the registrar. That page may have wording such as “website under construction” and/or display advertising either promoting other services (which the registrar receives money for) or for their own service. This is called domain parking.
